Coffee: The Bad And The Good Sides Of Drinking It

Posted on | January 1, 2011 | No Comments

A lot of people think of their coffee habit as an unhealthy indulgence. It is not surprising since it is the advantages of gulping coffee that always receive the magnification. Well, there are many of them and they could be alarming but if only everyone begins to see the ample goodness of coffee, they would not be too guilty sipping a cup or 2 of it every day. Having mentioned a cup or two, aren’t you tired of your old coffee machine’s regular servings of bland coffee? It’s time for the big switch Nespresso Citiz C110 Coffee Maker could be the one you need.

Mayo Clinic’s associate professor of the Preventive Medicine and Nutrition Donald Hensrud says that while the common presumption that coffee is harmful could be true, it is not always the case. The professor said that there are over 2,000 different chemical components in coffee actually and some of these components include the ever popular antioxidants. He quoted a study which found a connection between coffee consumption and reduced risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer And remembered to mention that in another study released recently, Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia risks of development have been found to be lowered down by caffeine consumption. Coffee is abundant of caffeine.

Hensrud added that coffee can be a relief to some people suffering from migraines but he warned that coffee drinkers who habitually drink joe at work each day may suffer from withdrawal headaches should they failed to extend their habit on weekends. He also said that it is not a healthy idea to load up on sugar and cream as they contain loads of calories and fats. He specifically asked pregnant women and people suffering from anxiety and insomnia to be cautious with their coffee intake. Do not put up with the dull coffee your old coffee maker is always serving you. Have it changed now by Nespresso Citiz Single.

The goodness we can gain from coffee have been pointed out by Hensrud but it does not mean excessive drinkers of it are safe already because they are actually at risk of having bad breath, yellow stains on teeth, anxiety, jittery, insomnia and increased blood pressure to name a few. If you’ve ever heard of the saying too much of something is bad, that applies in coffee consumption so watch out how many cups of coffee you take inside your body. In search for a better coffee machine? Make Coffee Makers Guide as your reference point. You’ll find great coffee machine brands and deals at the site.

These products are not suitable for young children because coffee contains caffeine. This could affect the kids by making them lose sleep and increase their activity. Roasted coffee beans have a bitter taste thus not a specialty for the children. Though when blended with chocolate, flavor changes due to the sweet taste of chocolate. Utilizing Health Benefits of Coffee

Consider why you might want to drink coffee on a regular basis. If you do a little bit of research, you may find that there are certain health benefits which it has to offer. You could end up fairly impressed by this to the point of wanting to make drinking it a habit! Of course, they pertain to black, regular coffee with nothing such as sugar added. Also brewed coffee specifically is likely to bring about these benefits. Although coffee does have certain health benefits, it’d likely not be a good idea to attempt to use it as a replacement for other things such as fruits and vegetables.

Not only might you gain the health benefits of coffee, but also it could be a good energy source. Surely it’s a good idea to drink it soon after waking up, and perhaps in portions throughout the day, but try to avoid it soon or around 4 to 5 hours before going to bed.

How much coffee should you drink? The answer is different for different people, obviously due to their different lifestyles. While up to 3, or EVEN 6 cups a day might work for one, it could possibly be too much for another person’s system to handle. It depends on various things, such as eating and drinking habits, how many calories the individual pretty much burns on a regular basis, amongst things. A person who beigns to drink coffee ought to consider having around a cup at first, and gradually increase the amount when it’d seem proper to. It might be a good idea to be sure that your appetite is fairly relieved before drinking coffee. One of the things coffee might do is speed up your metabolism, and perhaps it’d be bet that that doesn’t occur while you’re on an empty stomach. This could even serve as a primary reason for one to eat at least a little bit, or eat breakfast, shortly after waking up; so conditions will be much more suitable for coffee. You may even want to consider eating quite much so as to ensure that conditions are good for what would be a large amount of coffee in your opinion, if that’s what you’d prefer. Although coffee itself might significantly burn calories and increase the heart rate, both of which occur during exercise, it possibly should not be thought of as the main way for a typical person to burn calories and increase the heart rate.

You just might find the sort of coffee recommended above to be pleasing to the taste buds, to whatever extent. Think about the effect this might have for possible cravings for unhealthy foods in general. This possible pleasing of the taste buds may also help keep you convinced to hold onto coffee-drinking as a habit. See whether or not you find the taste pleasing. This can depend very much on the company you use, so do a little searching until you find one which suits you.

Like many topics and issues in the health and weight loss industry I believe drinking coffee for health and weight loss has been left unsettled with a growing controversy every day. People having all kinds of views whether bias or unbiased, has really made this topic difficult to come to a conclusion. So from all my research, studying, and experimenting I believe I have been able to come up with the unbiased truth on the topic drinking coffee for health and weight loss.

I would like to start off and put to rest some myths you might of heard that just seem to be used against coffee that have been proven wrong. So let me just quickly clear up these myths.

First, the caffeine in coffee does not increase the risk of coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, liver injury, pancreatic cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, breast cancer incidence, or certain types of cancers. The truth is coffee actually decreases the risks or has absolutely no effect on these health conditions when coffee consumption is taken in moderation.

Second, the argument that declares coffee as a drug because of its drug like qualities like addiction, a stimulant, and mood altering. These things can become a problem without moderation a discipline but coffee being one of the healthiest beverages out there, I would rather have people drinking coffee than soda pops or sugar drinks.

Third, an excess of coffee increases urinary secretion of important minerals such as magnesium, potassium and sodium and uses up a fair amount of vitamin B1. These minerals and vitamins are very important to our body’s health but that is why I like to bring up several tests that have been conducted which should clarify a few things. These test proved that people that drink coffee consume an average of 8 to 14% more minerals and vitamins than people that don’t drink coffee. I don’t know if coffee drinkers eat healthier or what but there mineral and vitamin loss is made up by consumption of food and daily multi-vitamins.

These myths have had an impact on the questions and controversy against coffee being benefial or not for healthy living and weight loss. I must point out that anything in excess is bad for you so when people say coffee is unhealthy, I can most of the time point out ten unhealthier things they do instead of drinking coffee.

Now that we are pasted that, let us focus on the advantages and disadvantages of coffee.

Advantages:

Coffee is actually one of the healthiest beverages billions of people consume regularly.

Coffee containing with bitter orange, hydroxycitric acid, and chromium can encourage an increase up to 30% in metabolic rate.

Coffee with exercise when taking 300mg averages a 20% increase in energy and fatigue while burning fat increased 107% greater than without caffeine.

Caffeine in coffee keeps our brains alert and receptive of new information.

Regular consumption of coffee decreases the risk of type II diabetes and many other health risks.

Disadvantages:

Coffee when consumed in excess can be addictive, stimulate, and a mood charger.

A large amount of coffee or caffeine consumed all at once can have a negative affect on blood sugar levels that influences fat burning that could change into storing fat.

Too much coffee over time can stain your teeth.

With so many benefits of coffee for health and weight loss it is hard to be worried about the few disadvantages when moderation can solve it all.

Step 1 Coffee Clean Up

Coffee when consumed straight and by itself it perfect. Having zero calories, zero carbs, and zero fats one can see that it would not hinder weight loss. When adding all that extra sugars, sweeteners, syrups, alcohol and so on just make it a high calorie dessert.

Sticking with regular or straight shots of coffee with limiting extras like milk and sweeteners is necessary for achieving healthy living and weight loss.

Step 2 – Coffee in Moderation

Too much coffee at one time can affect blood sugar levels so the easy fix is reducing your in take at one time. Spacing out your coffee in take throughout the day would be something to consider and would benefit as an appetite suppressant while reducing chances of increasing blood sugar.

Reducing your coffee in take might be a struggle and can possibly cause headaches and constipation but in the end is worth it.

Step 3 Limit Simple Carbs with Coffee

Avoiding or at least limiting simple carbs while drinking coffee would be wise as coffee can affect blood sugar negatively and adding simple carbs will just encourage an insulin spike.

Step 4 – Exercise

Exercise has so many benefits besides burning calories and suppressing your appetite. Exercise can also help regulate your body’s use of insulin to keep blood sugar down and making coffee have little affect on your body. So make sure you participate in aerobic activities, lift some weights, and keep drinking that coffee and you should achieve weight loss in no time.

Don’t let people tell you coffee is a bad drug and should be avoided at all costs. You know the truth that coffee actually has more benefits than negatives, so enjoy your coffee worry free about hindering for diet and weight loss goals.

Have a great day and God bless!

Could there be anything better than a hot, fresh brewed cup of coffee? As you open that can of pre-ground Maxwell House Coffee, did you even know that coffee comes in different roasts? Did you know that you can roast your own coffee beans at home? If you think that the aroma of your fresh ground coffee beans can’t be beat, get a home coffee roaster, you’ll be in Java Heaven.

Roasting the coffee beans is what imparts flavor. Similar to the making of a fine wine or a hand rolled cigar, some consider the roasting of coffee beans as an art. Those that describe coffee use some of the same vocabulary they use to describe wine. Depending on the roast level chosen the beans take on different flavor characteristics. The lighter the coffee bean the less flavor it will have, the darker the coffee bean the stronger the flavor it will have.

There are generally four different categories of roast. A light roast (American), a medium roast (Breakfast), a dark roast (French), and darkest roast (Italian or espresso). Each type of roast imparts a different appearance to the coffee beans. When a coffee bean is roasted to an American roast the beans will have a very light color to them and they will appear dry. A medium roasted Bean, or Breakfast roast will have a rich brown color and will be oily in appearance. A French roasted coffee bean will have a very oily appearance with the beans appearing very dark brown. The darkest roasted beans or Espresso beans will appear black.

Coffee roasting can easily be done in your home. Depending on the roast that you desire you can roast coffee in five to fifteen minutes. Green beans are available online from a number of sellers, as are coffee roasters. Choose different types of green coffees to sample. Drum roasters are very popular for use in the home. It’s best to consider purchasing a roaster as it will give you the most consistent finish to your beans. Some try to roast beans in frying pans, some use hot air popcorn poppers. While each of these techniques will work, as mentioned above they don’t give a consistent finish to all the beans and you will most likely be disappointed in the result.

All in all, making coffee correctly is all up to you and the way your flavor buds react to the taste. If you like it a particular way, then make it that particular way. However, if you have guests over they may just like the basics. So do yourself a favour and learn the correct way to make lattes and espressos.

Enjoy!

There are quite a few people in the world that think drinking is bad for your health. These people believe coffee makes you hyper, fidgety, and unable to focus on any given task. The key behind getting the most out of your coffee, is to consume in moderation. Remember in life, you want a balance, not to much of the good stuff, and not to much of the not so good stuff! Moderation is the key to almost everything in life. One would have to agree that got rid of all the unhealthy food and drinks in your diet, there wouldn’t be much left to enjoy. Every one is different, but I would suggest every coffee drinker limit themselves to only three cups a day to retain the healthy attributes of the coffee bean.

A cup of a espresso is favored across the world, but the greatest consumers of coffee anywhere may be the United States, Germany, and France. These three caffinated countries drink around 65% of the coffee on the globe. The annual amount of coffee drank every year is almost mind-boggling. There are about 400 billion cups of coffee drank every year world wide. There is only a small band around the world, where the climate permits coffee to be grown, but this doesn’t stop coffee from being one of the most profitable, and most exported crops world wide.

In the United States alone, there are over 100 million cups of coffee drank every single day. Studies in the past have shown that over half of the adults in America drink coffee on a daily basis. These numbers tell us that about three quarters off the adult American population has a cup of coffee almost daily.

Coffee may be the drink of selection for numerous in the United States, but don’t forget how loved a hot cup of a java is all over the world. Did you know that coffe is the second most consumed beverage every single day, right behind water? There are tons of devoted fans and followers of this dark drink, some even go as far as to call it, “the nectur of the Gods”. Below I have listed some recently discovered facts about coffee and how it can effect your health. Coffee has been thought, but now proven to have some health benefits for you.

Coffee has two main ingredients that can improve your health; those are caffeine and antioxidants. Both caffeine and antioxidants have been seen to improve not only your health, but also decrease your signs of aging. The antioxidants in coffee have been proven to help your body repair damaged cells. Free radicals are a by product created by your body daily while it creates and repairs cells.

Is Coffee Good Or Bad For Your Health – Find Out Is Coffee Good Or Bad For Your Health

Is your morning coffee an ok option on your healthy eating plan?  If coffee really bad for you or is it actually good?

I get these questions about coffee and health all the time and as a coffee drinker myself, it is smart to take a look at both the good and the bad.

Now, I’m not here to tell you that coffee is good for you. If I did, I would be telling only the good side of the story and I’m no politician. I am here to give you the good and the bad and tell you how you can incorporate your favorite coffee or tea into your healthy meal plan.

The Ugly Side of Caffeine:

Most coffee and tea contains a lot of caffeine. This is usually the primary reason people make coffee their drink of choice in the morning. Caffeine is a drug like any other and comes with a long list of side effects. Have you ever tried not having your coffee in the morning? Yeah, pass the Excedrin, right? The headache that comes on when you try and kick this habit can be brutal (just like with other drugs) and creating a dependency and addiction like this is harmful to the body.

Second, coffee is extremely acidic. Our bodies function at optimum levels when they are slightly more alkaline (the opposite of acidic). It is best for us to greatly reduce any foods that will drive our body’s pH to be more acidic and eat more foods that are alkaline (like fruits and veggies). An acidic body pH is like a magnet for all kinds of illnesses. Also, an alkaline body has a much stronger immune system, making illness much less likely.

Last but not least, the caffeine in coffee and tea is abuse to your adrenal glands. Your adrenals release your “fight or flight” hormones basically giving you a nice “boost” when needed. Unfortunately, people who drink coffee all day long are consistently beating on their adrenals. This is the equivalent of whipping a tired horse even when he is exhausted. Eventually he will not move at all.

The Pretty Side of Caffeine:

Coffee tastes oh so yummy and makes me feel great in the morning. (What? Is that not a good enough reason to drink it?)

Many studies have shown that coffee can help in the prevention and treatment of diseases and illnesses as varied as Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, liver disease, skin cancer, Parkinsons’s disease and more. Although, I don’t believe coffee would be the cure all to any of these diseases, many ancient cultures did rely on the coffee bean to cure a long list of ailments. Not to mention, small doses of caffeine can increase performance and mental focus.

Green tea is also a great drink to include with a long list of benefits. If nothing else, green tea is a wonderful source of antioxidants which are important in cancer prevention. Green tea has even been found to raise metabolism and aid in fat burning. Before you go take a green tea bath, its effects are really minor when compared to the effects of sound nutrition and exercise plans. Now that I’ve said that, don’t think you can eat junk food and just wash it down with green tea!

What is a coffee and tea drinker to do?

1. Limit your coffee and tea intake to 2 – 8 oz cups per day. No, not 2 of each, 2 total. Any more than that is considered as a heavy addict. (I know. I’ve been there).

2. If you are currently dependent on a lot of caffeine each day, replace 1 or 2 cups of coffee with green tea instead. Green tea has much less caffeine than coffee and will help combat the ugly detox symptoms.

3. Do not jack up your coffee with sugar, milk, syrup and whip cream (So I guess that means no Starbucks, huh?). Use stevia or xylitol to sweeten and avoid all the empty, harmful calories. A teaspoon of half and half won’t hurt either. Please oh please, do not use any of those flavored creamers. They are closer to someone’s chemistry experiment than they are to real food.

4. Make sure to make your food choices healthy. Avoiding other acidic foods like sugar, artificial sweeteners and processed foods will lighten the acid load on the body.

5. Make sure the coffee you drink is organic. Conventional coffee is filled with pesticides and chemicals and should be avoided at all costs.

There is no need to give up your morning coffee but it is important to drink the right types of coffee, without the added unhealthy extras and, as with most things, in moderation.

Healthy Coffee – The Truth – Healthy Coffee Benefits

Is there such a thing as “Healthy Coffee”? What are the benefits of healthier coffee for your health?
In this article, I will cover some known facts about the standard unhealthy coffee. Then show you there is actually a healthier coffee available and what the benefits are when you start drinking this healthier coffee.

Some facts about Coffee
- Coffee is the second largest traded commodity in the world
- Second largest consumed product next to water being the number one.
- World wide, according to statistics from the International Coffee Organization, people drink about 1.4 billion cups of coffee a day. About 45 percent of it is consumed in the USA.

This is a huge industry and billions of dollars are being made every single day. Everyone knows ‘Star Bucks’ and ‘McDonalds (McCoffee)’. These two giant corporations sell coffee in many different flavors and they are not in the coffee business to make people more healthy. They knew the facts and created a billion dollar plus business, with billions of people world wide being addicted to coffee.

Why are people still drinking unhealthy coffee?
Simply because the caffeine has a stimulation effect on the body. The downside of this is you will need your fix on a regular basis.
Furthermore regular coffee:

* Dehydrates

* Is very acidic and toxic

* It raises blood pressure

* Your stress level increases

All the more reason to limit your daily coffee addiction or find a replacement.

Healthier Coffee
Being a heavy coffee drinker myself I hated instant coffee. This always had an after taste and did not even taste like the coffee I consumed on a daily basis. I know many of you can relate to having to have your morning cup of coffee in order to get your day started. I experienced stomach acid problems, did not get enough sleep and headaches which I all related back to the coffee I was drinking. A very good friend of mine let me taste a sample of what she called ‘Healthier Coffee’. It was instant coffee so yes I was a little bit skeptical, but I did drink it. The aroma and the coffee flavor was great! It tasted even better than my regular coffee brand.

After I discovered this healthier coffee, I did some research on it and found out that it hardly has any caffeine (superior brand of Arabica beans used). More importantly, it is infused with a herb called Ganoderma Lucidium, or red mushroom. This red mushroom has been used in China for over 4,000 years for medicinal purposes, also known as the ‘King of Herbs’. When you do some research on the internet, you will find many businesses who offer this healthier coffee, but only a few really use the power of the Ganoderma or Reishi (Japan) herb.

Healthy Coffee benefits
There has been extensive research to what effects this red mushroom has for your health, here is a list of what it can do for you and your body:

* It will give you more energy and reduce fatigue

* It will increase your brain activity

* Will make you feel young and refresh again

* Improves/boosts your immune system (good alternative for the swine flu too!)

* You will sleep better (For people who suffer from insomnia)

* Healthy weight loss (Instead of pills or other costly weight loss programs)

Conclusion
Regular coffee is not good for your health. In fact, it is damaging your body. So the choice is yours. If you would like to continue to enjoy the rich taste and aroma of gourmet coffee, then I suggest you switch to the healthier coffee with the herb extract in it.

Ganoderma Lucidium was exclusively used by the Chinese emperors for a reason! Compare all the health benefits from drinking healthier coffee versus regular coffee. You’ll be amazed with what it will do for you!

Being a heavy coffee drinker, I discovered the many benefits of drinking healthier coffee instead of regular coffee. I have created a website called The Healthy Coffee Club check it out and come on over to have a healthy cup of coffee and a nice chat! Live healthier!
