Emeryville, CA (PRWEB) July 24, 2006
Emeryville, CA July 24, 2006 This week will mark the first time ever that a major conference/trade show will be SMS/text-message enabled. Every attendee, speaker, exhibitor, booth, event session, and room associated with Real Estate Connect San Francisco 2006 will have a short numeric tag assigned to it. Connect attendees will be able to use almost any cell phone or palm-held organizer to send a text or SMS message containing that tag, and instantly receive back detailed information.
We dont believe this has ever been done before, says Mike Edelhart, CEO of Inman News, producers of Real Estate Connect San Francisco, the premier industry event where leaders in real estate, technology and innovation gather to network, make deals and set the agenda for the market. Being the first to market with a fully-enabled SMS/text-message conference fits perfectly with Real Estate Connects mission of driving innovation.
Instead of returning home with bags full of flyers, brochures and business cards, people will walk away from Real Estate Connect with all the information they need stored on their mobile device, says David Geipel, cofounder of CellSigns. CellSigns, Inc. currently has the only mobile, SMS/text messaging search tool available in the real estate industry and allows buyers to get listing information on every MLS listing for sale. The company is using the same technology to enable SMS/text-messaging for Real Estate Connect.
How it works
Someone standing in line at a coffee shop before Real Estate Connect starts can use text messaging to download the days schedule to their cell phone, or even download contact information for another attendee they happen to meet while waiting for their coffee. An attendee listening to the keynote speaker might want to download that speakers bio and contact information for follow-up later. A person browsing the exhibit hall booths can download information about an interesting company they come across, rather than taking a paper brochure and business card. If a traditional SMS/text message is too short for the desired material, the recipient can specify an email address to which a PDF file will be sent.
